Poland imports thousands of tons of foreign epoxy resins every year. At the same time, few people know that we have also had our own industrial epoxy production for decades.
EPIDIAN® resins are produced in Nowa Sarzyna – a brand well known in Polish industry, construction, composite production, and flooring systems.
Poland buys thousands of tons of foreign epoxies.
At the same time, we have had our own industrial production for decades.
Poland imports over 22 thousand tons of epoxies annually
In 2024, Poland imported around 22.4 thousand tons of epoxy resins in base forms.
At the same time, Poland exported around 9.6 thousand tons of products belonging to the same category.
This means that in terms of weight, imports were more than twice as large as exports.
This does not mean, of course, that all 22.4 thousand tons went into floors. Epoxy resins are also used in, among other things:
- anti-corrosion paints and coatings,
- adhesives,
- composites,
- automotive,
- marine industry,
- construction,
- electronics.
However, the data shows the scale of the market. Poland still largely relies on epoxies imported from abroad.
And yet, we also produce epoxy resins in Poland
One of the most important facts is that Poland has a real industrial epoxy resin manufacturer.
Sarzyna Chemical is described as the only epoxy resin manufacturer in Poland. The company specializes in the production of synthetic resins and has a very wide product portfolio.
One of the manufacturer's most recognizable brands is precisely EPIDIAN®.
It is worth knowing:
Sarzyna Chemical states that it has a portfolio comprising over 1000 base products as well as solutions prepared for customer needs.
The offer includes not only flooring products. EPIDIAN® also includes resins used in composites, paints, varnishes, adhesives, industrial protection, and many other applications.
This is important because it shows that we are not talking about a brand created solely for the flooring market.
We are talking about technology with a much broader industrial application.
A resin manufacturer and a system manufacturer are not always the same
On the market, we find many companies offering ready-made epoxy systems, primers, flooring masses, or colored products.
But there is one important difference:
A company producing a ready-made flooring system is not always the manufacturer of the base epoxy resin itself.
In the case of EPIDIAN®, the product is backed by a chemical plant that actually produces resins.
For a professional contractor, this matters because the material is backed by specific technological resources, documentation, and production experience.
Is Polish resin better than foreign resin?
We do not want to say that a product is better just because it was produced in Poland.
There are many very good chemical manufacturers operating on the European market. The country of origin alone is not a guarantee of quality.
Much more important are:
- consistency of product parameters,
- control of the production process,
- technical documentation,
- correctly selected proportions of resin and hardener,
- compatibility of the individual layers of the system,
- material availability,
- technical support.
And this is where local industrial production can be a very big advantage for the contractor.
A floor contractor does not just buy a bucket of resin
Let's imagine a simple situation.
One resin costs 30 PLN per kilogram, and the other 34 PLN. On a larger order, the difference may look attractive.
But the contractor should be looking at something else.
It is not just the price per kilogram that counts.
It is the cost of a correctly executed square meter of flooring.
If you have to return to the site, grind the surface again, repair the layer, or buy additional material, the initial savings disappear very quickly.
For a contracting company, the most important thing is therefore to execute the floor correctly the first time.
A good floor is a complete system
Sarzyna Chemical points out three basic elements affecting the quality of an epoxy floor:
- correct selection of resin and hardener,
- appropriate selection of fillers and auxiliary materials,
- proper substrate preparation and floor execution.
Therefore, even a very good resin will not save poorly prepared concrete.
And vice versa – a perfectly prepared substrate will not help if the subsequent layers of the system are selected incorrectly.
An epoxy floor should be treated as a system, not as a single product.
EPIDIAN® FLOOR – different systems for different applications
That is why the EPIDIAN® FLOOR family includes several different solutions.
- EPIDIAN® FLOOR G1 – used for substrate priming, among other things,
- EPIDIAN® FLOOR C1 – system for thin epoxy coatings,
- EPIDIAN® FLOOR S1 – self-leveling system,
- EPIDIAN® FLOOR Q and QF – solutions using quartz fillers, among other things.
For example, EPIDIAN® FLOOR C1 is designed for applying thin coatings on concrete substrates. The manufacturer indicates its use in garages, halls, warehouses, and technical rooms, among other things.
In turn, the EPIDIAN® FLOOR S1 system allows for the execution of smooth, self-leveling floors of greater thickness.
So there is no single resin “for everything.”
First, we determine the application, substrate, and expected effect. Only then do we select the product.
Why does Polish production matter to the contractor?
1. Product consistency
If a contractor regularly works with one system, they begin to know its behavior well.
They know how the material mixes, how it flows, how much time they have for application, and what to expect during subsequent projects.
Good technology should allow you to learn the product once, not from scratch with every delivery.
2. Technical documentation
Professional material is not just a name on the packaging.
It also includes specific information regarding substrate preparation, working temperature, mixing proportions, consumption, and the time between subsequent layers.
For example, for flooring systems, the manufacturer specifies requirements for concrete strength, its moisture content, and curing time, among other things.
3. Material availability
On a construction site, a lack of 20 or 30 kg of material can be a bigger problem than a small difference in the price of the entire order.
Production in Poland and local product storage allow the material to travel a shorter distance from the manufacturer to the contractor.
4. Technical support
In practice, projects very rarely look exactly like the example in the catalog.
Questions arise:
- How do I prepare old concrete?
- How much material do I need?
- Should I use a full sand fill?
- Which primer should I choose?
- What layer thickness should I apply?
- When should I apply the next layer?
And this is where not only product sales, but also knowledge of technology is needed.
Why do we choose EPIDIAN® at Gaz-Bud?
Not because everything Polish is automatically better.
We choose EPIDIAN® because the product is backed by:
- actual industrial production in Poland,
- several decades of experience with epoxy resins,
- a wide product portfolio,
- detailed technical documentation,
- a systematic approach to flooring,
- products also used outside the flooring industry.
The role of Gaz-Bud PRO, however, is to translate this technology into a specific project.
Tell us:
- what surface you have,
- what the substrate is,
- where the floor will be installed,
- how it will be used.
Based on this, we can help select the right system and calculate the amount of material needed.
Polish chemistry can be the first choice
In 2024, Poland imported around 22.4 thousand tons of epoxy resins in base forms.
And at the same time, we have had our own industrial production for decades.
So it is not about choosing a product solely because of the flag.
It is about consciously choosing a manufacturer, technology, and system backed by specific experience.
