Polimal® VE-2MM TP – Chemical-Resistant Vinyl Ester Resin
Polimal® VE-2MM TP – Chemical-Resistant Vinyl Ester Resin
Polimal® VE-2MM TP is a premium-quality, accelerated, medium-reactivity, thixotropic vinyl ester resin based on epoxy, dissolved in styrene. It was created for professional industrial applications where extreme strength and resistance to aggressive chemical environments are essential.
The resin is ideal for producing advanced glass fiber-reinforced and/or mineral filler-reinforced composites.
Main Advantages and Properties
- Outstanding chemical and thermal resistance: Excellent resistance to contact with a wide range of aggressive substances.
- Thixotropic properties: Reduced sagging on vertical surfaces facilitates application and forming.
- Excellent mechanical properties: High flexural strength (130 MPa) and tensile strength (75 MPa) ensure the longevity of finished products.
- High heat deflection temperature (HDT): Up to 95°C under load.
Applications
The product is designed for producing chemical-resistant composites in many industries. It is ideal for manufacturing:
- Tanks, pipelines, and industrial installations that come into contact with chemicals.
- Laminated structures exposed to harsh operating conditions.
- Mineral filler-reinforced elements with enhanced thermal and chemical resistance.

Selected Chemical Resistances (Examples)
The resin exhibits excellent stability when in contact with many aggressive media (tested in accordance with PN-78/C 89067):
- Sulfuric acid (10%): resistant up to 90°C
- Hydrochloric acid (20%): resistant up to 80°C
- Phosphoric acid (75%): resistant up to 80°C
- Sodium hydroxide (1% - 40%): resistant up to 65°C
- Sodium chloride / Iron(III) chloride: fully resistant (All) up to 90°C
- Unleaded gasoline (without methanol): resistant up to 50°C
Processing and Curing Conditions
- Preparation: The resin in the container or individual package should be thoroughly mixed before use.
- Working environment: Proper curing requires an ambient temperature above 18°C and low air humidity.
- Initiation: Optimal conditions are achieved by using 2% Luperox® K-15 (MEKP) hardener. The gel time can be adjusted by changing the amount of hardener within the safe range of 1-3%.
- Post-curing: Final properties and full chemical resistance are optimized by curing at an elevated temperature (seasoning).
