Sarzyna MTB Hardener - Fast and low-temperature for epoxy systems
MTB Hardener is a specialized, low-viscosity amine hardener designed for use with epoxy resins from the Epidian® Floor family, particularly in systems based on G1 and G2 resins.
It is a key alternative to the standard U1 (Z-1) hardener. It was developed for applications requiring a faster pace of work and for projects carried out in more challenging thermal conditions (lower temperatures), where standard solutions cure too slowly.
When to choose the MTB hardener?
If site conditions are not ideal or time is of the essence, MTB is the best choice. Its main advantages are:
- Work at lower temperatures: Enables effective resin curing at temperatures where the standard U1 hardener ceases to react effectively (application is often possible from 10°C). Ideal for work during the autumn and winter periods or in unheated buildings.
- Faster curing and shorter technological breaks: Significantly accelerates the resin cross-linking process. This allows for faster application of subsequent system layers and reduces the waiting time before the floor can be fully loaded (faster return to operation).
- Excellent mechanical properties: Floors made using MTB exhibit high mechanical strength and chemical resistance.
- Low viscosity: Facilitates mixing with the base resin and improves the mixture's application properties at lower temperatures.
Application:
The MTB hardener is recommended for use with Epidian Floor G1 and G2 resins in the following systems:
- Priming concrete substrates (especially at lower temperatures).
- Applying structural layers of floors filled with quartz aggregate (Quartz Systems).
- Applying top layers (in systems where this is permitted).
- Fast repairs and substrate reprofiling (as a binder for resin screeds).
Important technological tips and mixing ratios (Attention!):
Using a "fast" hardener requires adjusting the working technique and strictly adhering to the mixing ratios, which differ from those for the U1 hardener.
- Shorter pot life: After mixing the resin with the MTB hardener, the time available for use is significantly shorter than with the U1 hardener (often only 20-30 minutes at 20°C). This requires efficient work organization and preparing smaller portions of material that can be used quickly.
- Exothermicity: The reaction is rapid and generates a lot of heat. Do not leave a large amount of mixed material in a bucket, as this risks rapid overheating and gelation of the resin.
-
Mixing ratios (by weight): The following ratios must be strictly observed depending on the base resin used:
- For Epidian Floor G1 resin: Ratio 100:37 (for 10 kg of G1 resin, add 3.7 kg of MTB hardener).
- For Epidian Floor G2 resin: Ratio 100:37 (for 10 kg of G2 resin, add 3.7 kg of MTB hardener).
Product intended for professional use. Before use, read the Technical Data Sheet and the Safety Data Sheet of the selected resin system.
