Epidian 6 – epoxy resin for laminating, bonding and casting
Epidian 6 is a versatile, low-viscosity epoxy resin used in industry, crafts and hobby projects. It is suitable for laminating, bonding, impregnating fibres, and making epoxy casts and floors. It requires the use of a suitable hardener, the selection of which depends on the intended application.
Key features
- Excellent fibre wetting (glass, carbon, aramid).
- High mechanical strength and chemical resistance.
- Suitable for making coatings, laminates, casts and adhesive bonds.
- Solvent-free – can be used in enclosed spaces.
How to use Epidian 6?
The resin is mixed with the selected hardener in weight ratios (e.g. 100:10 means 100 g of resin + 10 g of hardener). After thorough mixing, it must be used within the so-called pot life, which is the working life of the mixture.
Popular hardeners for Epidian 6
| Hardener | Ratios (resin : hardener) | Pot life (working time) | Typical applications |
|---|---|---|---|
| Z-1 | 100:13 | 20–30 minutes | Versatile, most commonly used: laminates, bonding, floors. |
| U1 | 100:43 | approx. 40 minutes | Casts, impregnation, thicker layers – slower exotherm. |
| TFF | 100:27 | 60–90 minutes | Laminates and coatings with increased heat resistance. |
| IDA | 100:53 | 90–120 minutes | Technical and decorative casts – low exotherm. |
| PAC | 100:60-100 | 10–15 minutes | Fast bonding and repairs, most flexible |
Example applications
- Glass and carbon fibre laminates (boats, tanks, technical components).
- Bonding metal, wood, concrete, stone, glass and ceramics.
- Decorative and technical casts (tables, countertops, artistic elements).
- Impregnation of structural fibres.
- Floors and epoxy coatings.
Application and storage conditions
Optimal application conditions: 18–25 °C. Store in the original, tightly sealed packaging, in a dry room, at 5–25 °C, away from heat sources and sunlight.
Summary
Epidian 6 combined with a properly selected hardener (Z-1, U1, TFF, IDA, PAC) offers enormous flexibility of applications – from bonding and laminating to casts and industrial floors. This makes it one of the most versatile epoxy resins on the market.
